What is the Baked Beef Roll?

The baked beef roll is a savory bread filled with cheesy and flavor beef in the center. You can either make the beef roll with my easy bread recipe or using frozen pizza dough for a similar texture. The bread is crispy from the outside when it is freshly out of the oven, and it remains soft when it is cool down. Instead of the cold processed meat, this cooked beef filling is like an authentic dish that makes the bread even enjoyable. This is an easy homemade recipe that makes your meal simple, yet delicious.

How to make the Baked Beef Roll at home?

Beef Filling

  • Slice the beef into strips and marinate them with soy sauce, mirin, ground black pepper, sugar, potato starch, and sesame oil for the marinade. Refrigerate it for 30 minutes at least.
  • Add a little bit of oil to the frying pan. Stir-fry the beef for 5 minutes on high heat until half cooked, then add the sliced bell pepper to it. Add a cup of water to it, and bring it to a simmer. Lower the heat to medium- low, and cook the dish for 20 minutes with the lid covered. Once the water absorbs completely, turn off the heat and dish out. Set aside to cool down.

Bread Dough

  • Combine flour, sugar, egg, water, and yeast in a large mixing bowl with a stand mixer on medium speed. Add the butter to it and keep kneading the dough for another 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. (You can also knead the dough with hands which may take longer to form the great texture).
  • Let the dough rest for 20 minutes at room temperature with plastic wrap covered.
  • Transfer the dough to the kitchen counter, press it to release the air from it. Shape the dough into a ball, and divide it into 3 equal pieces. Roll each of them into a ball, then let them rest for another 10 minutes.

Assemble the Bread

  • Flaten and shape each of them into a long oval with a roller pin. Spread the dough with cooked beef and shredded cheese to 1/2 of the edge.
  • Roll the dough up tightly to wrap the filling in the center, and pinch seams and ends to seal.
  • Transfer three of them to the baking pan, coating with egg wash, and sprinkle more shredded cheese over the top.
  • Preheat the oven to 420F. And Bake for 15 minutes.

Tips for the recipes.

  • Stuff as much as the beef and cheese to fill up the bread and roll it up tightly. You will love how delicious and cheesy it turns out when you cut it.
