I got some leftover peaches in the fridge, so I decided to make some fresh juicy peach jam. Using the seasonal fruit to make fruit jam is always an excellent idea since you can keep the best flavor longer in this way. Also, the fruit jam makes the dishes more delicious. For example, we can add apple jam into the pork chop, which caused a delightful entree. A piece of plain toast always needs a scoop of peach jam to highlight the taste. Although the fruit jam is used frequently in many dishes, it is not hard to make. Plus, homemade fruit jam is the best because of no artificial ingredients.
What is fruit jam?
- The fruit jam is a thick, cooked fresh fruit with sugar mixture. It is concentrated in fruit flavor and tastes sweet. Due to the fruit jam is high in sugar, it is recommended to use it as a topping or add on to a dish.
How long will fruit jam keep?
- Once you start to use the fruit jam, you need to finish it within a week for the freshness. If you seal and keep it in a jar right after you made it, you should be able to keep it no longer than one month.
How to serve with the fruit jam?
- Besides, you can make the fruit jam as the sauce on your main dish; you can also use it as the cake filling or on the cookies. The most common way is to get some fruit jam to spread on the bread, and it is also a simple and great idea for breakfast.
Wash the peach deeply by using a brush. Peel off the skin and keep it for the further step.
Cut the peach into small cubes. Transfer 2 and a half peach cubes to a bowl, and add sugar into it. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap, then keep it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, you should see the juicy came out of the peach, then blend it till puree.
Transfer the peach puree into a saucepan, cook it with the peach skin that you kept on medium heat.
Cook the peach puree until the skin color becomes lighter, then remove the peach skin from the saucepan. Add the other half peach cubes into the saucepan and cook for 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat. Allow the jam to cool down.
Store the jam in a sealed container.
