It is always nice to have a refreshing fruit jelly dessert in the hot summer. The fruit jelly is super easy and quick to make by ourselves. The ordinary way to make it is by adding gelatine into the boiling fruit juice. However, the fruit juice contains a lot of sugar; it wouldn’t be a healthy dessert you want. Therefore, I use boiling water cooked with fruit skin instead of fruit juice with this fruit jelly recipe.

Homemade fruit jelly dessert is an easy and healthy recipe that you can make for your family. Use seasonal fruit is the best for its taste. Today I am going to make a peach jelly dessert with the ice cream on the top.

What is a fruit jelly?

  • Fruit jelly is made of boiling water with fruit juice and gelatin in general. It tastes sweet and elastic, that people have it as snacks or the dessert.

How to keep the fruit jelly?

  • The fruit jelly needs to be kept in refrigerator, the cool temperature makes the texture firm and elastic.

What is the difference between fruit jelly and fruit jam?

  • The fruit jelly is a firm texture of fruit juice; however, the fruit jam is more concentrated on the fruit taste, which used cooked fruits.

 2 peaches
 4 cups water
 1 oz gelatin
 1 tsp vinegar
 1 tbsp sugar

Deep wash the peach with baking soda, rinse it under running water. Peel off the peach skin, and slice the peach into small cubes. (keep the skin for the next step)

Cook the skin in a milk pan with 4 cups of water. Once the water boiled, add vinegar and sugar. Keep stirring it until absorbed. (You will see the water turns to pink when you add the vinegar.)

Add gelatin into the boiled water, keep stirring until absorbed.

Turn off the heat, and cool down the mixture

Transfer the peach slices into a glass, pour the mixture over the peach.

Cover it with plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
