  • Instant Yeast – if using active dry yeast, mix 1 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast with sugar and lukewarm milk first. Allow the yeast mixture to sit for 10 minutes until frothy, then combine it with other dough ingredients except for the butter. How to make Sausage Bread Rolls?

  • Making bread dough. Add bread flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk, heavy cream, and egg to a large mixing bowl. Mix and knead the dough with a stand mixer attached knead hook. Keep kneading the dough on high speed for 5 minutes until smooth, then add softened butter.
  • Continue kneading the dough for 10 minutes at medium-high speed until the butter has completely incorporated and becomes more elastic. You can also stretch part of the dough. If the dough pulls into a thin sheet without breaking, it is ready for proofing.
  • First proofing. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm area until doubled in size. Leave the dough in the microwave or oven and place a cup of hot water aside to create a warm and moist environment.
  • Transfer the dough to a clean surface, gently press it to release air. Divide the dough into eight equal pieces and round them into balls. Cover them with plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.
  • Shape the dough. Flaten and shape each dough into a 6 inches long oval with a rolling pin. Cut the sausage open on top with six slices, place it on the dough and roll it up. Pinch and seal the edges. Make sure don’t wrap the cut part inside of the dough. (Repeat the same until all doughs are used).
  • Spray the buns with water, and lightly roll them onto parmesan cheese.
  • Second proofing. Place the buns on a baking pan, and let them rise for 1 to 1.5 hours at room temperature until they become almost double the size.
  • Bake.Preheat the oven to 356°F (180°). Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove them from the oven and decorate with melted chocolate. Serve immediately.
How to store and reheat sausage bread rolls?

Store the leftover sausage buns in an airtight plastic bag or ziplock and refrigerate them for up to 5 days.
You can also freeze them for up to 1 month. To reheat, thaw them at room temperature and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, or bake for 5 minutes in a 356°F (180°C) preheated oven.
