Do you know the snowflake crisps are the sister snack as the milk nougats candy? They are made with similar ingredients and have a close taste. However, the snowflake crisps are tastier with more texture. These lovely sweet snacks are originally from Taiwan but were reacted from the classic nougats by adding more dried fruits and crackers to enhance the taste and texture. Since then, they have become a trendy snack dessert in China and Taiwan due to their delicious taste and easy preparation.

The best part about the snowflake crisps is that you can make your own favorite snack by adding different flavors, such as matcha powder, chocolate powder, strawberry powder, and substitutes the dried fruits as your own choices. Try the simple recipe below, you will stick to this treat for a while since it is just too satisfying and delicious to enjoy.

What are the ingredients?

  • Unsalted Butter
  • Marshmallow
  • Milk Powder
  • Roasted Almonds
  • Freeze-Dried Strawberries/ Dried Cranberries
  • Matcha powder

How do you make snowflake crisps at home?

  • Melt butter in a large non-stick pan on low heat.
  • Once the butter melts completely, add marshmallows to it. Keep cooking and stirring the marshmallows until they melt into a smooth batter with a spatula. Then, add milk powder (and matcha powder) to the batter, and stir well. (Keep the flame on low heat consistently, so the marshmallows will not be over cooked or easily burned).
  • Turn off the heat. Add almonds, freeze-dried strawberries (dried cranberries), and crackers to the batter immediately. Keep folding until the ingredients are well combined with the melted marshollows. (If the marshmallow gets hard when they cool down at a low room temperature, it is ok to keep the low heat on while combining the ingredients).
  • Transfer the mixture to a non-stick baking pan, and press down to get an even and smooth surface. (Wear the gloves while processing the food, so you won’t get the candy sticks all over your hands).
  • Let the mixture cool down completely, and cut it into bite-size pieces. Dust the snowflake crisps with some milk powder. Enjoy.

How do you store the snowflake crisps?

  • Store the treats in an airtight container for 2 weeks at room temperature or refrigerate them for up to 2 months.
